Biography/History: Tech's 1906 baseball team won the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship and was awarded the Atlanta Journal's pennant as state champions after defeating the University of Georgia by a score of 3-2 in an exciting game played at Tech. That night after the game some spirited Tech students painted the score in yellow and white numbers three feet high on the asphalt in front of the Terminal Station. Unfortunately, they were observed by an Atlanta police officer. They were offered three courses of action: pay for a clean up, do it themselves, or take a trip to the police station. Applying problem solving techniques learned at Tech they found cloth and turpentine and spent the night of the great victory on their hands and knees scrubbing away.
