Title: Baseball Banquet for Georgia Tech Team of 1906

Content The setting for this undated photo is a banquet room in an unidentified building. Approximately 24 men are seated at a cloth-covered, flower bedecked table. They are wearing business suits. The caption under the photo reads "Baseball Banquet by Captain L.W. Robert for Southern Champions 1906". At the back of the table stands a group of women and children. To the right of the table stand four African-American waiters. The room is decorated with swags of material draped from the ceiling and the three chandeliers, as well as from a fixture on the right hand wall. On the back wall is a banner with a GT logo, two baseballs, two crossed baseball bats, and the date 1906.
Biography/History: Contemporary undated newspaper clippings place this event in late May or early June, shortly after the end of the 1906 baseball season. Detailed descriptions of the affair (including its location at the Fairfax Hotel on Peachtree Street) are given on page 61 of the Georgia Tech Baseball Team Journal, 1906-1907.
