Biography/History: Bobby Dodd was associated with Georgia Tech from 1931 until his death in 1988. He was an assistant coach for William Alexander and succeeded him as head coach in 1945. He was coach and athletic director from 1950 to 1966. After retiring as coach in 1966 he continued as athletic director until 1976. He maintained an office on campus and served as a consultant and speaker until his death on June 21, 1988. He was Tech's winningest football coach and was widely respected by his players and fellow coaches. Ray Graves was head line coach from 1947 to 1957 and assistant head coach until 1960 when he left Tech to become head coach at the University of Florida. Ray Ellis came to Tech as line coach in 1945 and a year later he was named assistant head coach, a position he held until his retirement from coaching in 1950. Dwight Keith came to Tech in 1942 and held a number of coaching jobs before being appointed varsity backfield coach in 1945. He left coaching in 1951.
