(Whitey) Urban, Georgia Tech offensive line coach from 1951 to 1960, when he accepted the post of athlete director at Southwestern Louisiana Institute.
Born in Floydville, Conn., where he starred in high school football, basketball, and boxing. He entered the University of Chattanooga, where he lettered in football as a center and in boxing. After graduation he coached at Tirion High (Ga.). He joined the staff of Baylor School in Chattanooga in 1939, where he worked with football, wrestling, boxing, swimming, and track teams for 10 years. In 1949 he was named head football coach at Sewanee Military Academy, going from there to Tech.
